Safety leaflets: an obligation

Safety leaflets: an obligation

The General Product Safety Directive 2001/95/EG requests that producers shall provide information about not immediately identifiable risks for the end users. This European Directive has been transposed for many years in all EU members state national regulations. The regulation applies also to abrasives and superabrasives used on hand-held machines which can be used by end-users.

The European producers of abrasives, gathered within FEPA, have selected the most important safety recommendations for the end-users in “Safety leaflets” which are available in 15 languages. A general leaflet covers all abrasives products. Several specific leaflets have been designed with cartoons for handheld applications: one for each type of power tools machines and abrasives or diamond products. These leaflets shall be provided in the smallest unit packaging of all abrasives and diamond tools to be used on a power tool or a petrol saw. If they are not, they shall be made available at the point of sales.

In case the users has lost or damaged them, he can read on every devices/download/print them any time from the website www.abrasivessafety.com. This way safety is always reachable.
